چکیده
Abstract The distribution of chemical heterogeneity beneath hotspots provides important constraints on the source magmatism and mantle convection. Chemical heterogeneities in upper produce discontinuities that can be interrogated seismically. One such discontinuity, X-discontinuity (230-350 km depth), is observed intermittently across globe, with multiple possible causal mechanisms. However, to better understand cause its relationship upwellings, we require global short wavelength observations, previously unresolved by reflected phases broad Fresnel zones. Discontinuities resulting from seismically observable impedance contrasts targeted using high frequency P wave receiver functions (RFs) possessing lateral sensitivity (?100 km) structures almost directly station. Thus, below well-instrumented investigate properties constrain mechanisms these locations. Using P-to-s converted teleseismic between 30-90?, stack RFs depth time-slowness domains at 28 6 cratons globally. This reveals 15 robust observations 244-344 depth. A further 10 potential are present hotspots, null cratons. Two remain elevated temperatures expected hotspots. coesite-stishovite phase transition occurs eclogite and/or carbonated silicate melt may form under certain conditions. Variation of Lithosphere-Asthenosphere boundary beneath Iran by using S Receiver function
The current geological and tectonic setting of Iran is due to the ongoing convergence between the Arabian and Eurasian Plates, which resulted in the formation of the Iranian plateau, mountain building, extensive deformation and seismicity. The Iranian plateau is characterized by various domains including the continental collision and the oceanic plate seduction. Based on S receiver functions ar...

متن کاملLateral variation of the D00 discontinuity beneath the Cocos Plate
[1] Broadband shear wave signals from 15 deep South American earthquakes reveal small-scale variations of the D00 shear velocity discontinuity beneath the Cocos Plate. Deconvolution by average event source wavelets allows multiple event and California station combinations to be double-array stacked in 4 geographically separate reflection point bins with lateral dimensions of about 200 km. Refle...

S U M M A R Y This study applies high-resolution Radon transform to a large set of SS precursors and explores the mantle reflectivity structure beneath 17 potentially ‘deep-rooted’ hotspots. The combined reduced time (τ ) and ray parameter (p) information effectively constrains the depth, spatial distribution and sharpness of upper-/mid-mantle reflectors. The olivine to wadsleyite phase boundar...
